Turkey Hunt of A Lifetime

My Turkey Partner's Bird

Guest Book

So much in my life changes in the above listed years, that my hunting
routine changes drastically.  Some things are lost, while others added.

I lost several members of my immediate family during those years. An only brother, Kenneth,
my Father, my Mother in law, a brother in law, some close friends and aquaintances.
While losing them brought on feelings of great lose and sadness,
there was one that was added to my life that has added much to my life.

The year 2000 was one of the most stressful in my life.

I was diagnosed with heart disease in Jan of that year.  I lost my brother that summer and just two days later a brother in law.  And then just two days later, Grover, at deercamp died and the day before his funeral, our shop burnt to the slab.  Thousands of dollars were lost in uninsured items.  I lost all my old Christmas ornaments, along with All my hunting clothing.  Frank lost most of his tools, but we did save the lawn mower and ATV. Oh and the big display board of antler racks we had collected through the years. This was something that Cliff had made for us and I knew it was NOT replaceable with money, lots of memories there.    What a depressing year!

I survived as I am that tuff ole bird that just won't give up.

Meet My Grandson

My hunting was cut back in the fall of
2002 due to my having temporary
custody of this little fellow. But it didn't
matter because there was a bond built
between us that will last our lifetimes.

He will one day be

'THE GREAT WHITE HUNTER'

So Much For Life Changing Situations ! Ohhhh, you wanted updates on DEER hunting.
Not Much Exciting Happened in those years as far as Deer hunting but...

I did take up bowhunting again.  Hubby came up with an old used bow, while I got a newer verison of an old bow and we had us some fun chasing those whitetails around deercamp.

Well he had all the fun as I havent' taken a deer YET!   Our first year, he tagged out with four deer right before archery season ended.  He was so 'bad' that year, I almost laid that bow down, but the competition between us just started.  I bought him a new bow last year, 2003. One of them new fandangled Mathews Bows. Set it up with the finest gear at a pro shop. And I do mean a pro shop, one that was selected as bow shop by the archery mags in 2002.   He had it all.....what did he get.....a couple does. He didn't even fill all his tags.  He was the 'great white hunter' now and he AIMED to take a buck that would go in the Tn regeristery.   I really hope he does that! I would also like to see my name there along beside his with a record book listing too.

During those years, I took some smaller bucks, and during '02 and '03, nothing that classified as antlered, so it is MY time to score another NICE buck.

Last season, deercamp was disappointing to us to say the least!

Only two deer were taken off the property and one of those was taken during muzzleload season by a galpal of mine.  Frank took the other with his bow! I ended the season with only two deer tagged out. Sure I slung some arrows, had some really great hunts, but the archery seasons havent' been kind to me.
